Why Pioneer Endicott?

Introducing Samantha Ivey, Founder/CEO of Ivey League Speaking and a new resident of Pioneer Endicott. Ivey is one of the first live/work residents of the historic St. Paul building, both setting up shop and making a home in her Skyway unit.

Ivey League Speaking consults clients on the many aspects of public speaking and political consulting in a contextualized manner. Whether a client is seeking assistance in communicating to a large crowd or small group seminar, Ivey’s extensive background in public speaking makes it easy for her to tailor lessons to each client’s situation.

The public speaking portion of the business focuses on one-on-one consulting. The first step is establishing the client’s comfort level in front of people. Next is setting a benchmark goal in helping the client become a better public speaker. From there is tailored education on communicating publicly. And finally, Ivey helps clients with body language, breaking habits, and establishing confidence.

In the political consulting portion of Ivey League Speaking, the company would be hired as the director of communications for an organization or campaign.  Ivey has experience in campaign rhetoric, speechwriting, and candidate and staff consulting.

“My passion is politics,” she said. “I love it. It’s one of my favorite parts of my business, but I’m really more motivated to help individuals one-on-one. But I get that in both areas.”

Ivey’s move to Pioneer Endicott was a simple twist of fate. She had originally planned to move to Washington, D.C. for law school but changed her mind after being accepted to William Mitchell College of Law. With this new development came the need to make moves, so Ivey searched her parameters on Google and stumbled upon Pioneer Endicott.

It was love at first click.

“I loved the old-school charm,” Ivey said. “The fact that it’s a historic building and they maintained the character – but it’s upgraded so you know it’s not going to have any problems. The way they are renovating it… I know it’s going to be a wonderful place to live. And it already is. It’s definitely my style.”

The unit where Ivey lives and works is complete with a living room, meeting room, modern kitchen, washer and dryer, large bathroom, loft bedroom, and her favorite part that ties it all together – a spiral staircase.

But it wasn’t just the building itself that attracted Ivey to Pioneer Endicott; location also played a role. Located in St. Paul’s downtown business section, Ivey found that the building’s placement was in the perfect neighborhood for her – as both a business owner and William Mitchell student. And her unit’s Skyway level location has already proved to be beneficial to business.

“I put the Ivey League Speaking banner on my door two days ago, and already there have been people knocking and inquiring,” she said. “It’s awesome. It’s advertising right on the Skyway, and you can’t beat that as a business owner. It’s basically almost free advertising.”

The residential aspect of Pioneer Endicott – although still developing – is something Ivey also finds endearing. Between her fellow residents and the management – whom she calls “extremely helpful, great people” – she says she definitely appreciates the community aspect. And the units, each with “its own distinct charm,” are another reason why Ivey loves Pioneer Endicott – so much so that she is convincing her friend to move to the building.

So what is Ivey looking forward to most upon the building’s completion? The fitness center, which is scheduled to be up and running by mid-September. And then there’s the lounge, which is in the works and will serve as a comfortable communal area for residents to unwind and interact.

The Lowertown St. Paul neighborhood itself is a place to unwind. Ivey loves the many restaurants/bars (her favorite is Bin Wine Bar) and shops in the area, as well as its close proximity to the Xcel Energy Center – she’s a huge Minnesota Wild fan. The art scene also appeals to her, as Lowertown is home to several studios and the St. Paul Art Crawl.

“There’s a new gem everyday that I find,” she said. This is definitely a place where you can just find things and get lost for hours, but still maintain this business atmosphere. It’s an eclectic mix – a great place to be.”
